There are few castles in Wales - or Europe for that matter - which can boast a more spectacular location than Carreg Cennen. Its ruins crown a precipitous crag in a remote corner of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Carreg Cennen, its origins shrouded in obscurity, is the ultimate romantic ruin. A visit to Carreg Cennen is an adventure - not least for the sight of the breathtaking 100mtrs/325ft cliff on which the castle is perched, and the dramatic trek through the passageway cut into the cliff-face which leads to a natural cave beneath the fortifications.

Apart from the natural and varied beauty of the widely differing north and south coastlines there is an abundance of outdoor activities available to the nature lover and sportsperson.
Gower has a number of site of considerable historical interest – the most well known being Goat’s Hole cave at Paviland where the skeleton of a man now believed to have died around 24000BC was found in1823 by the Rev William Buckland, professor of Geology at Oxford. Ruins of Norman Castles are to be explored at Pennard and Oystermouth and hill forts and ancient burial chambers are found throughout the peninsula along with the famous prehistoric monument of Arthur’s stone situated along the ridge of Cefn Bryn.

Dylan Thomas was one of the greatest writers from Wales and a giant in the 20th century. The most renowned in a school of Anglo-Welsh writers that flourished during that period. He made particular use of the, then, new mass media technologies of broadcasting and recording. He lived at the Boathouse for the last four years of his life during which time many major pieces of work were written - including Under Milk Wood. The Boathouse, where Dylan and Caitlin lived with their children, Aeronwy, Llewelyn and Colm from 1949 to 1953, is now a heritage centre. The house now contains audio visual presentations, original furnishings and memorabilia, a themed bookshop, tea room, viewing platform and terrace.

Explore the history of Pendine's "Sands of Speed" in a dramatic building overlooking the beach. At the heart of Pendine's Museum of Speed is the area's past as a centre for attempts on the land speed record, most notably when it was broken in 1924 by Malcolm Campbell in his V12 Sunbeam Bluebird at an average speed of 146.163 mph.

Millennium Coastal Park occupies approximately 10 miles of coastline on the Burry Estuary. The park runs adjacent to the towns of Llanelli and Burry Port, the park offers superb views along its length of the Gower Peninsula. The Gower was the first designated area of outstanding natural beauty in the UK.
The Coastal Park offers many unique features including a continuous traffic-free cycle/footpath, the National Wetlands Centre for Wales, and a championship links golf course. Burry Port and Pembre harbour's plus Millennium Quay and the Discovery Centre.
